Infrastructure Situation in Kenya
A stable infrastructure is a prerequisite for the development of a stable residential – and business environment. It is unfortunate that these are only available in few areas. In towns like Nairobi, Mombasa or also Eldoret, there is infrastructure for water and electricity, but it is not reliable. In Nairobi there is weekly water rationing for all estates in the city. Power failures normally occur regularly all over the country and tolerated by the people with utmost calm.
Here what we have learnt is that normally entrepreneurs or families can in their respective abilities build and optimize their infrastructure.
Water tanks can be installed, diesel generators or solar systems bought, roads constructed and many more. Yet this is often a problem that there is not enough money for the implementation and thus will be qualitatively and relatively poorly built. There is no plan. There are hardly any long lasting infrastructures available to which one can be able to build on.
In our projects we would like to primarily equip rural areas with modern infrastructure. It will still take long time until the national infrastructure can be able to serve and develop these areas. In order to reduce rural urban migration, good residential places, small pretty and well functioning villages that offer high standards of living must be built.
